Owner/ Lead Dog Walker - Stephanie Foster

From a young age I have had a deep connection and passion for all animals. I am originally from Canada where I have had over fifteen years experience handling dogs. I managed a Humane Society in a Northern community in the Yukon, where I worked closely rehabilitating ex sled dogs to becoming adoptable family pets. I also had experience working with the local veterinarian, assisting with surgeries and appointments. I’ve had the opportunity to work for a very established doggy daycare, and dog walking company in Vancouver. This gave me the chance to gain exceptional experience in the industry.

Over the years I have obtained qualifications to enhance my knowledge. I have successfully completed the following courses in canine care:

Professional Dog Walker Training Program at the International Academy of Canine Trainers.
Dog Trainer Foundations from the world renowned Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behaviour.
Pet First Aid & Training New Zealand (PETFAT).

Beyond my experience and training I have a lot of love, attention, and respect for dogs. I am a friendly, trustworthy, and reliable person and I look forward to meeting you and your best friend.

our walks

Regular exercise is an integral part of your dogs health and well being. At Tails & Trails we understand how busy life can get, it can be hard to fully satisfy your best friends needs. This can leave you feeling guilty for leaving them at home while you tend to your weekly routine.

Let us take your dog out on an adventure! When you return home your dog will be tired from a busy day of socialization and stimulation, ready to snuggle in.

We walk in small groups so we have the ability to focus on each individual dog and keep complete control over the pack. For your peace of mind all dogs new to our off leash walks will be monitored with GPS trackers.

Your dog will be picked up from your home or office in our dog friendly and well ventilated van. Then driven out to one of Christchurch’s amazing dog permitted areas, where they can run, play, and have a good sniff around for at least one hour. You will receive a text notifying you when your dog has been picked up, along with the location they are heading to.

We believe that mental stimulation and continuous training is very important throughout a dogs life time. While on our walks we will work closely with your furry friend to keep improving their discipline with basic training and commands. You will love seeing their success on our social media. We are very strict with using only positive reinforcement training methods and do not condone the use of choke or prong collars.

After a fun fulfilling adventurous excursion, your dog will be towel dried and returned home. You will receive a text notification and picture collage of their amazing experience with Tails and Trails!
